RENTAL QUESTIONS

Important answers before checkout.

Review the renter qualifications, documents, reservation terms, and operating expectations before applying.

Is Hutzell Aviation a flight school?

No. Hutzell Aviation is an aircraft-rental company for approved pilots and time builders. A check flight is required for aircraft familiarization and renter approval, not as an advertised flight-training program.

What are the minimum renter qualifications?

Renters must be at least 16 years old, hold at least a Private Pilot certificate, have at least 75 hours of total flight time, carry renter’s insurance, and hold a valid third-class medical or qualify under BasicMed.

What documents are required?

Applicants must provide proof of renter’s insurance and a valid medical or BasicMed, show photo identification, and bring their logbook for an in-person review. Tyler also completes a check flight before approving access.

Are the listed prices wet or dry?

All listed hourly rates are wet, meaning fuel is included. Prepaid 15-, 25-, and 50-hour packages expire three months after purchase.

Can I rent the aircraft overnight?

Overnight rental is available with Tyler’s approval at an increased cost. A one-hour daily minimum applies, and the aircraft must normally be returned to KWDR after each flight unless Tyler approves another arrangement.

What are the scheduling and no-show rules?

Each reservation requires Tyler’s approval, at least 45 minutes must remain between reservations, and a $50 fee applies to no-shows. Availability is offered throughout the week.
